Children's Work
WHOLE SCHOOL PROJECTS
OUR MURAL

All children throughout the school were given the task to design a mural which they thought showed clearly what we at St Thomas' stand for. The school council then judged the designs and picked elements of several of them to incorporate into a mural. We then sent off the design to a company who drew an outline based on our original work. They sent a lady into school to work with us and EVERY child in school worked to stick some tiles onto the background. The mural was then attached to the school wall at the front entrance to welcome all our visitors.
Our mural has many parts:
The central bit is our school badge, based on the architecture of St Thomas' Church and indicates the Christian ethos and values of St Thomas' CE Primary School; the children show that we are a happy inclusive school, welcoming children of every culture around the World; the pencil pots show the importance we give to our academic work; equal importance is given to the drama masks that represent the arts and cultural side of our school showing that we value the whole child and want to develop our creative selves; and the flowers show how we develop and nurture or children giving them all the essentials to help them grow and blossom into fine young people ready to disperse and flourish when they finally leave us.
Foundation Stage

We are lucky to have a safe and secure area in school dedicated to outdoor play for our Foundation Stage children. Much learning takes place through the use of free and structured play and this picture shows our outdoor track and a variety of objects used to develop the language of the children through co-operative play. It appears that this scene is of a garage workshop - at coffee time. Hence t"work" has ground to a halt whilst the mechanics are all having a cup of tea and a bacon butty!!!!
