Parents as Partners
Week Beginning Monday 11th March
This week linked to the Narrative Immersion text we have met Farmer MacDonald. The children thought of lots of suggestions to help him tidy up his farm. J They have created lists, written stories and used their imagination to try and help him. Wow !
A big thank you to all parents who came to our TLC workshop, we hope you are having lots of fun at home with your children. Don’t forget to give us feedback in the book provided. Remember packs will be sent home on Thursday and can be returned on Monday. Enjoy !
Next week we will be doing the following:
Literacy – Linked to ‘What the ladybird heard’ we will be helping Farmer Macdonald’s son George to organize the farm and think about ways to raise some money so that they can pay their bills. We will also be thinking about the theme of community and will be discussing the following:
- What is a community?
- What communities do you belong to?
- Does everyone in a community do the same things? Celebrate the same things? Believe the same things?
- Is it better to work together or work alone?
- Should we all be the same or is it ok to be different?
Letters and Sounds – Letters and Sounds – We will be introducing the vowel digraphs ow, oi, ear, air. To encourage the children to learn them we have created some ‘Digraph Expert’ badges for the children to wear in schoolJ
Mathematics – We will be writing simple number sentences linked to rhymes and songs and we will be sorting vegetables. We will also be doing some problem solving using hens and eggs.

Reading Books – We change books on a Monday – but please remember to bring your child’s Reading pack every day. Please would you try and keep your child’s diary, reading record, library book and reading books in the pack provided. It helps when all the items are together so that nothing gets lostJ
