International Day of Peace
On Thursday 21st September St. Thomas’ celebrated the International Day of Peace. The theme this year was “Together for Peace: Respect, Safety and Dignity for All”.
As a class everyone talked about what Peace means, looks like or feels like to them?
The children in Key Stage 1 drew pictures of what peace looks like for them and took part in some mindfulness colouring with calming music. They all discussed how it’s nice to have some peaceful time each day and listed how they think this peaceful time can be helpful.
The children in Key Stage 2 also did the same activities as well as looking at different symbols for peace. The children designed their own symbol for Peace, wrote about a peaceful act they know about, something they could do to help themselves or someone else, they even used the mindfulness videos on YouTube to do some meditation and then discussed how important this time can be.
