Year One Newsletter
You may think you know the story of the Three Little Pigs and the Big Bad Wolf – but only one person knows the real story. And that person is A. Wolf. His tale starts with a birthday cake for his dear old Granny, a bad head cold and a bad reputation. The rest (as they say) is history.
All of our learning will be done through drama based activities in our narrative immersion approach to teaching. Our writing focus will be traditional tales and persuasive texts. We will be making cross curricular links looking at different materials in Science, maps and keys in Geography and construction in DT.
Reminder that the phonics screening check is next half-term (June 10th onwards) please see parent pack given out on parents evening. If you have any further questions or need more ideas on how you can support at home please see Miss Weekes.
Homework is an important activity that supports your child’s learning. Please help your child to complete one piece of homework per week which should be handed in every Friday. Please sit with your child whilst they are completing their homework to help them and to make sure they are forming both their letters and numbers in the correct way.
Reading books will be changed every week and guided reading is done weekly. It is very important that you read at home with your child as often as possible. Please record this in your child’s reading record (this also counts towards homework points!).
