Sports Events 2019/2020
Throughout the school year pupils will be taking part in a variety of different sporting events and activities. Please have a look at some of the things we have been up to so far.
10.10.2019 - Larkhill Primary School Vs St. Thomas'
St. Thomas' Outstanding Victory!
On 10.10.2019 St Thomas' played a very tied-up match of football against Larkhill Primary School, Edegely. The score of the very close match was 9-7 to the away team, St. Thomas'.
The opposition, Larkhill, were a very polite school and they were a very fair team with a good referee. They chased every single mistake they had made , they either made an attack or had a shot on goal. The team liked to swap tactics so it was a fair game.
Our team, St. Thomas' also played fairly and everyone stood out like a saw thumb. Our star striker, Alfie, netted seven spectacular goals, including one from his own half.
21.01.2020 - Football Tournament at The Cliff Training Ground
On 21.01.2020 St. Thomas' went to a tournament at The Cliff Training Ground. That was united's old training ground. First match was a difficult game and frustrating. Their team was strong but we kept them out. We hit the post twice, bar three times but we just could not score; and at the first match we drew 0-0.
Second match was the worst performance of the tournament. We went one up by Riley but then they were passing around us with ease. And that's how they scored four times, with one goal of theirs being wonder strike. That match ended 4-1 to them
Then our third match was probably the best. Alfie shot and the goal keeper spilled it and Leighton finished it. There were more goals in that match and we won 4-1.
Then our fourth match which was a great match, Alfie put us one nil up, then it went 1-1 but Alfie went past two and rifled top bins. And then Leighton finished two crosses to make it 4-1 to us. But that couldn't get us to the final, sadly we finished second with 8 points.
28.01.2020 - Adswood Vs St. Thomas'
On 27.01.2020 St. Thomas' went to play football against Adswood Primary School. Riley was in net for the first half, Josh and Zoie was the defenders and Adswood scored the first goal in the first half but then Riley came out of the goal so Zoie was the goalie. In the second half Riley scored four goals and Adswood scored one in the second half. We won 4-2.
25.02.2020 - Tri-Golf Competition
On the 25th February we went to a tri-golf competition. 8 children went including me. Tri golf is when you play games including the ball and the club. We got to play running games. Sadly we came in fourth place but we all still loved it.
28.02.2020 - Infant Sports Hall Athletics at Laurus Academy
We took a group of 8 children from year 1 and 2, our team consisted of 4 boys and 4 girls. The team were excellent and came 2nd place losing out narrowly to Brabbus Prepatory School.
02.03.2020 - Year 3 Be Active Event
Parents and Carers of our Year 3 children came into school to take part in our Be Active across the ages event. They took part is sporting activities including endurance stations, hand-eye coordination exercises, balance challenges and many more. Both parents and children thoroughly enjoyed the event. we would like to say a huge thank you to all those who came to take part.
03.03.2020 - Year 3 and 4 Football Tournament at Aquinas
For this event we took a mixed team of boys and girls to Aquinas College. We played a number of games against local schools. The team did great but did find this a tough event and the children definitely learnt a lot from it. Well done!
09.03.2020 - Chill Factore Event
On the 09.03.2020 we took 9 children from Year 5 and 6 to the Chill Factore. The idea was for the children to compete against other schools in a mini winter olympics. We did brilliantly and came 2nd place losing by only 1 point! A fantastic effort!
