Road Safety
Road Safety is an extremely important subject that is relevant to people of all ages, young or old. Everybody uses our roads in one way or another, whether walking, cycling, driving or on public transport and the impact of the dangers on our roads can affect everyone. Road crashes are a major cause of injury and death among young people. One of the main dangers our children may face is the traffic on our busy roads around Stockport.
Many of the children who come to St. Thomas’ walk, cycle or scooter to school. During the recent pandemic many have been travelling to local parks and play areas to see friends and family and are getting out for daily exercise as much as possible. This is hugely important for many aspects of our well-being and therefore it is vital that we teach our children how to remain safe whilst using our roads.
Below are some links to online resources for parents/carers and teachers that have been put together by the Road Safety Officers at Stockport Council who would normally come into school to speak to our children each year.
